Venus Telephone Corporation
Your Complete Communications Provider
GENERAL INFORMATION
Venus Telephone Corporation offers regular Dial-Up Internet Service for $14.95/month.
Along with Internet access, you will also recieve (1) email address (Your-Username@venustel.com)
as well as 5 Mb of server space to store files or host a website if you wish.
QUICK SETUP
Internet Service is fast and easy to set up. Our dial-up server's telephone number is 3546000 (note
- there are no spaces or dashes in the phone number, type it in just as such. Remember, when
your computer's modem is dialing out, it's just like you're dialing a number on your
telephone - there is not a dash button on your telephone).
You can either call our help-desk at 354-6001 or simply set it up in your computer by
going to your "Control Panel", then to "Internet Options", then to "Connections". If you
have other connections listed, remove them all before "Adding" our connection.
Once you type in the phone number, and name your connection, (venustel is recommended)
just type in your username and password. This sets up your Internet Connection.
EMAIL SETTINGS
Setting up your email is a snap as well. We recommend and support Outlook Express.
Here are some quick directions for setting up your email:
-
Open up Outlook Express
-
Click on Tools
-
Click on Accounts
-
Be sure you are on the "Mail" tab
-
Click Add, then Mail
- Type in your name. What you type here is what your mail recipients will see in their
"From:" Field - so be sure to use capitalization and spaces. Then click next.
-
Type in your email address (your-username@venustel.com)
-
EXAMPLE: leroy-brown@venustel.com
-
Click Next
-
Your Mail server is indeed a Pop3 server. This Simply means Venustel's email server
uses a POP3 (Post Office Protocol) Protocol to transmit and recieve email. Leave this
setting alone.
-
Under POP3, you'll see incoming and outgoing mail server fields. Enter venustel.com
OR mail.venustel.com in BOTH fields. Either of the above mentioned works because
they both resolve to our mail server.
-
Click next
-
Enter your password - then click Finish.
-
Close or "X" out of Outlook Express, and re-enter Outlook Express for settings to take
effect.
HELPFUL HINTS
-
If you are getting error codes, try removing or deleting your mail settings and re-entering
them all. This sometimes will get things working again
-
If you can't get your email through Outlook Express, go to www.mail2web.com and type in
your full email address and password. If you are able to view your mail, you know the
problem is on your end. Many Spyware and adware programs will corrupt Internet Explorer
thus creating problems with Outlook Express. Outlook Express is part of Internet Explorer.
If this happens, consult your local Computer Support Technicians. It usually takes
a complete system restore to get things back to normal. ***NOTE*** a system restore
using the "System Restore"function in Windows XP will not restore your computer completely.
Your hard drive must be wiped clean, then XP re-installed for a "FULL" system restore.
-
Venustel.com has email virus protection installed on it's email servers. This eliminates
much worry of incoming mail viruses and Trojans.
-
If you are having troubles with your email, sometimes your anti-virus program is the
cause. Try removing the incoming and outgoing mail scanners on your anti-virus program.
-
If you recieve alot of Junk Mail, there is a work around. Simply set up a Gmail account (it is a free service through google) then contact us to forward
all of your emails from venustel to your gmail account. This will allow you to keep your venustel account, but simply forward it to Gmail, which has
great spam filters. All of your venustel mail would then be accessible ONLY through gmail. No more need for Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows mail,
or what ever other mail client you may use.
-
If you require a technician from Venus Telephone to come out because of an Internet Connection problem, and the
problem is found to be in your computer, a $35.00 House Call fee will apply.
