1985 ATC350X Trail Bike
1985 350X
I purchased this 350X in February 2007 at Valley ATV near Mansfield, OH for $1425. This is the ultimate trail bike. It can often be found on weekends shredding the many trails of Western PA. It has also proven its worth on the rugged Hatfield McCoy trail system of West Virginia and Haspin Acres in Laurel, Indiana.
Though I no longer race this machine, it has competed at Smith Road MX, Trikefest MX, and Trikefest Drag Races. Outfitted with ITP Holeshots, the 350X is also an excellent choice for hill climbing.
The most amazing thing about the 350X is the ability to bog the engine to low RPMs in various gears, and still retain the needed “grunt” to instantly pull hard without shifting or the risk of stalling. Wheelies are another area where the 350X is in a class by itself. Pick any cog in the 6-speed gearbox, thumb the throttle and hang on. Controllable power induces long, high, confidence inspired wheelies at any time, on any surface.
With a functional compression release, the 350X kicks easily and starts reliably (2-3 kicks) between 0 – 100 degrees F. While it is no beauty queen, this machine still looks great in frequent duty as a primary trail rider. The 350cc mill is virtually bullet-proof and maintenance free (even after 25 years). In the world of 3-wheeled, 4-stroke, big bore trail thumpers – the 350X has no peers and no competition.
