The 1984 Honda ATC 200X

HOME

This trike was originally built for Shelly , ATC-Tim's then girlfriend - now wife. As an "always" cool modification "The Auto-X". This Trike Began life as a 1984 Honda ATC200X. Over the years, certain individuals had their fun running this trike extremely hard and performing no maintenance what-so-ever! What ended up killing this buggy was running it for a long time with no muffler, just a head pipe. It burned up the valves. With a little TLC, some paint, a little originality, and a heart transplant - an '83ATC200 engine, this little beauty is now in a better place. Also known as the "F-Edition", (F standing for Female, Not Fag) this trike is in it's prime. With good maintenance and continued care through Tionesta Trikes, this gal should be running for another 20 years.

OK - the latest on this trike is this......this will be Shelly's exclusive racer. No more trail riding for this trike. With that being said - the old ATC200 engine is now installed in Shelly's 83 200X for trail riding. This 84 200X racer now has a 200X engine installed back in it. Engine mods include - full Cobra Race Exhaust system - ported and polished intake and exhaust ports - Performacne Cam Shaft from Web Cams - Wiesco 11:1 high compression piston - and an XR200 carb - it really runs good! It has nearly the power of a stock 350X.

The ATC200X was made between 1983 and 1987. There are 2 generations of the 200X. The 1st generation was between 1983 and 1985. The only big difference in 1st generation models was the rear swingarm in the 1983 model. It was made of round tubing welded together. The 1983 swingarm looks really trick compared to any other stock swingarm of it's time. Honda probably changed that design due to the cost factor. The 1984 and 1985 models had the square tubing rear swing arm like most modern ATV's have. The first generation 200Xs had red fenders with white gas tanks. The 1983 and 1984 had black seats and the 1985 had a blue seat. . In 1986 the 200X was completely redesigned with virtually no parts being the same as the 1st generation. The 86 & 87 models have all square tubing frames rather than the round tubing frames. The engine was completely redesigned as were the fenders, the seat, the gas tank, the headlight components, - EVERYTHING! The 86 and 87 models also came with a 6 speed tranny. The 1986 and 1987 models were all white with blue seats. The 86 had red air scoops and the 87 had white air scoops.
