The 1984 Honda ATC200ES

New for the 1984 ATC line-up - Honda introduced the 2nd generation Big Red. Its new features included shaft drive (upgraded from the 1982 and 1983 chain drive) and a Honda first for ATCs, a reverse gear. Other than the drive train, the 1984 model did not look much different than the 1st generation Big Reds. Obviously the frame was different than the 1st generation Big Reds to accommodate for the rear shaft drive. Fenders, gas tank, racks and many other parts interchanged with the 1st generation Big Reds - however, the 1984 Big Red was a 1-year production run vehicle. The only other 1-year production run ATC was the 1980 ATC185. It should be noted that the 1984 and 1985 ATC200M also share the same rear fenders. The 1984 ATC200ES had the largest production numbers of any ATC, with over 200,000 units built that year.

We have two of this particular model here at Tionesta Trikes, a stock model and a custom model. The stock model is just that - other that aftermarket knobby tires - the whole ATC is bone stock. The custom model is one that Shelly built back in 2006. She did a complete frame-up restoration. It has been painted custom colors to suit her tastes. Shelly painted the gas tank, and had the seat recovered and a "TT" logo embroidered by Cosmic Quads . She 100% disassembled the machine and sandblasted every part. Then painted and or refinished all parts and re-assembled it.
