The 1985 Honda ATC250SX

The Honda ATC250SX was made between 1985 and 1987. It may be the only true Sport / Utility three wheeler. Sharing it's engine with the legendary ATC250ES Big Red - it was able to get the work done, but afterwards was able to play just about as well as any sport ATC. The drive train in similar to its "Big Red" brother, but not identical. Although the rear ends may be swapped from ES to SX - the gearing is a bit taller in the SX. The SX came stock with 22" rear tires rather that 25" tall tires on the "Big Red" - this is why the gearing is different. 1985 models had all red fenders and gas tanks, while 1986 and 1987 models had red fenders with white gas tanks.

Our 1985 ATC250SX has seen better days. It does in fact start in any temperature with ease and has had no failures to date since acquisition. That says a lot considering this is our "Buddy-Bike." When we host rides, this machine is always up to the duty of hauling people and drinks. This is also the machine I use to tow our pop-up camper around the yard when it needs moved. It does that job fairly easily and that says a lot because the pop-up weighs in pretty hefty. I can honestly say I am very impressed by the 250SXs performance on the trails, and reliability it has proved to us over the years.
